Huge Kudos to all of the dedicated band students, boosters and family members who continue to be rock stars at performing, volunteering, and coordinating.
A Standing Ovation is deserved for our Students, Winter Staff, Boosters, & Parent Volunteers who made the Sherwood Winter Showcase a well oiled machine. You guys are incredible! If for whatever you reason you haven’t had a chance to watch the winter percussion or the winter guard in performance, you need to go see them!
As a program, it’s great to step back and think about what we have achieved over the past couple of months:
*Sent 10 student musicians to All-State Honor Groups.
*Hosted Swingin’ with Spaghetti with record fundraising and attendance.
*Held a Solo & Ensemble Recital with 60 student directed performances happening across 3 performing spaces.
*Sent 42 performances to the OMEA District 14 Solo & Ensemble Festival.
*Had 11 of those students qualify for the OSAA State Solo Contest.
*Hosted the Sherwood Winter Showcase all morning, day, and night on March 15th.
*Performed at 20 SHS Basketball Games.
* Attended 2 Wind Ensemble Festivals and received a set of qualifying scores for the OSAA Band Contest.
PHEW! That’s a lot. Now we continue the season of festivals, concerts, winter ensembles, and welcome the Fiddler on the Roof Musical to SHS. REMEMBER – KEEP PRACTICING!
