Auditions for 8th graders

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUDITION

For those 8th graders who would like to audition for Wind Ensemble, you will need to prepare the following:

1. Chromatic scale
   1. play from your lowest note to your high and back to the lowest you are able to play
   2. minimum tempo marking Qtr note = 120
2. Concert Ab scale
   1. up and down
   2. minimum tempo marking Qtr note = 120
   3. two octaves preferred
3. Concert E harmonic minor scale
   1. up and down
   2. minimum tempo marking Qtr note = 120
   3. two octaves preferred
4. Solo excerpt
   1. In addition to the scales, please prepare a minimum of 16 measures of a solo piece which will highlight your technical and melodic abilities
