Can Drive – Please Help!

Dear Band Parents: WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

This is our first fundraiser of the 2019 year. Let’s make it a successful one!

AUGUST 10TH; YES, this Saturday It is taking place at KOHL”s Department STORE parking lot this year!! PLEASE note the change from prior years.

We will need many hands to make this an efficient and fun event. There are many tasks to do: Drive Kids in neighborhoods, picking up donated items Set up or Take down Dump Runs Sorting recyclables Driving the trailer to Kohls, and/or to the recycling center later during the week. ETC

Boys participating in any one of the of these five high school bands: Bowman Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz I, Jazz II, require certain apparel. Remington CTR Clothing has supplied this great quality clothing at reasonable prices for several years. As we near the start of school, please call Remington’s directly to schedule your 20-minute fitting appointment.  Pieces of this apparel can sometimes be difficult for our supplier to obtain, scheduling your appointment as soon as possible will provide time to resolve any issues that arise.

Mr. Remington has made himself available to our band students now through August 16.  Please schedule your appointment within this window of time.

Come Join the Robin Hood Parade Marching Band – The More the Merrier!

Join the Robin Hood Festival Marching Band! The More the Merrier!

The Robin Hood Festival Marching Band is an excellent opportunity for all community members to participate in a musical marching ensemble and share their music making with the Sherwood community. We believe that we should have as many community members involved as possible; our motto is “the more the merrier”.

This year we will be playing two songs: “Dancing in the Streets” and “Emblems of America”.

T-shirts and hats will be provided; please e-mail your size to  We ask that you wear a khaki-colored or tan shorts or pants & your favorite athletic shoes. T-shirts and hats will be distributed at Friday’s rehearsal.

The parade is Saturday, July 20th in Sherwood. Call time will be announced at rehearsal.

Rehearsals will held in the Sherwood High School Band Room at 6:30pm on Monday, July 15th, Wednesday, July 17th,  and Friday July 19th.

SMB This Week

Sherwood Marching Band Members, Reminders for this week:

Percussion Camp this week in the SHS Band Room from 10:00am-6:00pm.

Winds Camp (Woodwinds & Brass) this Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00-4:00 at Sherwood Middle School. We will do music from 9-12 and then stretching and movement from 1-4. There will be a one hour lunch break on both days. Bring your instrument, marching shoes, water, lunch, & sunscreen. (Mellophones, Euphoniums, Sousaphones will be transported to SMS for those musicians to use).

SMB Updated Calendar – Important

SMB Students & Parents – Our marching calendar has had a few major shifts in it due to some building calendar decisions that were made in the past two weeks. The only changes were on Fridays & Saturdays in September & October. Below is the updated calendar.

Marching Band Calendar – Updated 6.12.19

Major changes include:

  • Homecoming Game & Parade
  • Performing at Sunset Competition instead of PCI (homecoming)
  • Friday & Saturday rehearsal schedules that were affected by those changes.

SMB Registration Process – Due June 10

Dear Students & Parents, Our Marching Band & Colorguard Forms are due on Monday, June 10th. Our roster is already looking great and we’re looking for more to join in with our amazing 2019 season.



Before you begin the questionnaire you will need your student’s Sherwood School District ID number.  This number is how we identify your student in the band program’s database called Charms.


It’s important that all students – even returning marching band students – provide their current measurements.  You will need a fabric tape measure, current weight and current height before you begin. Our marching band uniform inventory consists of 1,550 pieces all of varying sizes, enough for 140 students.  The available inventory is matched up to each student based on the measurements that you provide. On August 11 each student will try on their uniform to fine-tune the fit of each piece.

3) ANNUAL RELEASE DOCUMENT – We will email you this electronic form directly within two days of receiving your email address through the student/family information link.

You will receive an email via docusign that can be completed electronically.  This document will request your permission relating to the following topics: 1) Medical  2) Travel 3) Photographs 4) Uniform Care 5) Liability. If you do not receive this email within two days, please email

The information you will need to complete this form includes:  1) Name of student’s health insurance company 2) Group number of student’s health insurance policy  3) Name of Student’s Physician 4) Phone number of Student’s Physician 5) Date of Student’s most recent tetanus shot  6) Any allergies or other health concerns 7) Any prescription medications that your student is currently taking.

4) BAND CAMP SUPPLIES ORDER FORM  –  If this is your first time logging into your secure Charms portal, the DEFAULT password is your student’s Sherwood school district ID.  You will be prompted to choose a permanent password, keep record of your password since it will be required when you log in going forward.  If you have forgotten your password, email to request that your password be reset back to the default (SSD ID).

Items that will be necessary for band camp will be available to purchase until June 30 from the Charms online store.  Click on “Check-Out” to complete your purchase using PayPal or a credit card. Your order will be available to pick up on August 11, which is uniform fitting day in the high school band room.  Band camp begins on August 12.

Graduation Band 2019

Dear Parents & Students – Our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade band students which comprise the Graduation Ceremony Band (aka Mega Band) need to have one rehearsal to get on the same musical page for graduation. We are going to rehearse in the band room at 7am on Friday, June 7. This is one rehearsal to get 50 minutes worth of music reigned in across three different bands. Call time for students Friday morning is 6:50am. Please arrive on time so you can navigate the crowd in the band room and set up. BRING A PORTABLE MUSIC STAND IF YOU OWN ONE. Thank you!

  • 5:55 – Call Time (Anticipation: Parking lot will be a bit chaotic)
  • 6:10 – Set, Warmup, Tune, Walk Out Together
  • 6:30 – Perform Background/Prelude Music
  • 6:55 – Staff Processional Music
  • 7:00 – Ceremony Begins, National Anthem
  • 8:30 – Approx. Ceremony Over – Cleanup
  • 8:45 – Approx. Band students go home

Reminder: SMB Stepoff Meeting Friday, May 31 6:00pm in the SHS PAC

Greetings Band Families, The Sherwood HS Marching Band is having its stepoff info meeting on Friday, May 31 at 6pm in the Performing Arts Center at Sherwood High School.

This meeting serves to provide some basic info regarding the marching band season. We talk about the calendar, what involvement looks like for both students and parents, and also we debut the music and concept for the 2019 show.
