Greetings Sherwood HS Band Families,
I am looking forward to our upcoming performances. Since my last correspondence, we have made some decisions about each event. I wanted to communicate to you as many details for each specific event that I can provide at this point.
Wednesday, May 26 – Sherwood Marching Band & Colorguard
We will be showcasing our marching band and colorguard with our 2020-2021 Bruno Mars Show. We will recognize our students, leadership, and senior membership throughout the course of the evening. I will be in touch later with audience parameters, including how many audience members we are allowed to bring. The audience members will be asked to participate in proper social distancing and mask mandates.
Location: Sherwood HS Stadium
Parking: Tennis Court Area Parking Lots
Student Attire: SMB Shirt (to be provided), SMB Hat, Athletic Shorts, Shoes, and Socks.
Student Itinerary:
- 4:30pm – Rehearsal
- 6:00 – Dinner
- 6:30 – Gates Open for Audience
- 7:00 – Performance
Wednesday, June 2 – Mandatory After-School Mass Band Rehearsal Itinerary – Bowmen Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble
This will be our one and only opportunity to get all band members together for one rehearsal prior to our performance. This will also be the first complete concert band rehearsal any one of these students has had for 15 months. All Band Students need to be available for this rehearsal, please make transportation arrangements accordingly.
Location: Sherwood HS Stadium
Transportation: Dropoff in Tennis Court Parking Lots (access through gates by band room)
Student Equipment to Bring: instrument masks, bells covers (if applicable), music (in binders), clips for music (wind), instrument.
Student Itinerary:
- 3:00 p.m. – Setup (Cohort 1 students will need to start setting up as soon as they arrive)
- 3:30 p.m.– Rehearsal
- 4:30 p.m.– Rehearsal End/Cleanup
- 5:00 p.m. – Students Done & ready for pickup
Wednesday, June 2 – Jazz Concert Itinerary – SHS & SMS Jazz Bands
We will be showcasing both the SHS and SMS Jazz Bands in our first performance in the new auditorium. Our jazz students have been working exclusively on combo charts and improvisation for this unique performance. Also, we will have guest performer George Colligan joining us for the show. I will be in touch later with audience parameters, including how many audience members we are allowed to bring. The audience members will be asked to participate in proper social distancing and mask mandates.
Location: Sherwood HS Auditorium
Parking: Tennis Court Area Parking Lots
Building Access: Walk through gate near band room, access building through Commons entrance
Student Attire: Dress up nice!
Parents: Bring a mobile device to access and read our concert program.
Student Itinerary:
- 6:15 p.m. – Call Time in Band Room
- 7:00 p.m. – Jazz Concert
Thursday, June 3 – 2021 Finale Concert – Bowmen Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble
We will be showcasing our Bowmen Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble with this one and only band concert of the year. We will recognize our student musicians and senior membership throughout the course of the evening. This will be a beautiful concert. I will be in touch later with audience parameters, including how many audience members we are allowed to bring. The audience members will be asked to participate in proper social distancing and mask mandates.
For this unique performance, the band will be up in the covered stands and the audience will be on the turf field and track area. Audience members should bring lawn chairs, blankets, and weather appropriate attire. Please do not bring food or drinks onto the field other than bottled water.

Parents: Bring a mobile device to access and read our concert program. We will also use the mobile device for our Band Senior Slideshow. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and weather appropriate attire.
Student Attire: Wear your concert black attire (black slacks, black dress shirt, black full length gown, black dress pants, etc.). If you need any help or have any questions about concert attire contact Leanne Bishop at shsliaison.sherwoodbands@gmail.com.
Student Equipment to Bring: instrument masks, bells covers (if applicable), music (in binders), clips for music (wind), instrument.
Student Itinerary:
- 6:15 p.m. – Grab your instrument out of the band room (if needed) and head to the stadium field with your instrument in case and music. Bring Clips for music (wind). Make sure your music is locked into plastic sheets.
- 6:30 p.m. – Setup in the stands.
- 6:45 p.m. – Warmup Together in the Stands
- 7:00 p.m. – Concert Starts
Monday, June 7 at 6:00pm – SMB Info Meeting
This will be our informational meeting for the upcoming Fall 2021 Marching Band & Colorguard Season. All students interested in participating must attend. All new member parents must attend as well. All meeting participants will be asked to participate in proper social distancing and mask mandates.
