Dear Band Students & Parents, Today we met as a band this morning and talked about how we could support our music peers and band program at Newberg HS. Our Sherwood Band students made cards, signed a “Band Together” posterboard we created, and contributed money toward flowers. The amount of support that you all gave was awesome. After school, about 18 band members, along with myself, took about 75 cards and the Band Together” posterboard to the Newberg concert band class.
It was a very rewarding experience to see in person how our support was welcomed and received by the Newberg Band. To see the looks on some of their faces was enough to fill one’s heart. This afternoon I received messages from two band directors and a private lessons instructor sharing how much the gesture of support and solidarity meant to that program.
Sherwood’s “It’s All Arranged” has taken our donation money for flowers and is going to put together a very nice presentation to deliver to the Newberg HS Band on Monday. I made the decision to hold off on the flowers until Monday because in this way all of the band students can enjoy a beautiful floral display for the entirety of this coming week during all of their classes. Thank you to everyone who chipped in.
Thank you again to everyone for taking the time to support our neighbors down the road. Please know that as much as I care about putting on amazing performances and learning notes, ultimately at the end of the day I am really just one of many cheerleaders in your life who wants to see you all grow up to make amazing contributions to humanity. We need every single one of you. You are the only you ,and what you have to offer the world is unique and important!
