Dear Marching Band Parents & Students, Tomorrow evening (Wednesday, September 3rd) we have our first Wednesday evening rehearsal from 5:30-9:00pm. As those of you who have participated in marching band before know, we squeeze as much productivity out of our rehearsals as possible. Our staff and student leadership are super organized about how we use our time and there is a detailed itinerary for every rehearsal. Below is some director commentary on how to better understand how we treat start and end times. I’m doing this in hopes that this will be helpful to you in better understand how we approach our itinerary and so you are not caught waiting in the parking lot any longer than necessary.
START TIME – We will start right at 5:30pm, which means students should be arriving 10-15 minutes ahead of time to gather equipment and move to their rehearsal space.
END TIME – Rehearsal ends at 9:00pm. We are slated to have our full run through of our show at 8:45pm, followup commentary from staff and leadership at 8:52, and we should be finished right at 9pm. Students will need at least 10-15 minutes to clean up their rehearsal areas. My recommendation would be to pull up to the SHS Band Room area at 9:15pm. By that point students will be within a few minutes (give or take) of being completed.
