This week the Wind Ensemble will have one rehearsal after school on Thursday, May 15th. We will be finished by 4:45pm.
On Friday, May 16th Wind Ensemble students will go to periods 1,2,3 (No Jazz I rehearsal on Friday, kids can sleep in). At that point we will load the bus and depart for the LaSalles Stewart Center in Corvallis, Oregon. The Wind Ensemble will listen to other performing bands, then have some free time in a local park, and then we will change into concert attire & perform. Our performance is at 6:45pm and awards ceremony is at approx. 9pm. We will return to Sherwood at approx. 10:45pm on Friday evening.
Lennae Bishop has volunteered to prepare a well balanced dinner for our Wind Ensemble students, and our students are asked to contribute $5 each. If someone prefers to bring their own dinner that is allright, but please communicate your nutritional intentions to me for that evening.
Friends & Family are encouraged to come watch us perform. We’ve worked up a highly competitive & highly musical set of repertoire. We have also had a group of high caliber conductor’s come work with our Wind Ensemble to help us prepare this set of music: Dr. Richard Frey (Colorado State University), Dr. Rodney Dorsey (University of Oregon), Pat Vandehey (George Fox University), Todd Zimbelman (West Salem High School), and Dave Becker (Lewis & Clark, retired). Much thanks to the band boosters and their support for their help in bringing in these guest artists to work with our student musicians.
